Data Protection

Charities and businesses must comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018 and thankfully TMCP and the Methodist Church nationally provide us with great support, locally, to navigate the ins and outs of the law.

Think of data protection in the Methodist Church as something we do to treat people with respect and care. This means we don't use personal data inappropriately or unfairly. We take care to protect personal data from misuse or loss and we ensure it is kept up to date and accurate.

The TMCP website is the source of policies and procedures relating to data protection in the Methodist Church. Contact the District Data Champion if you need help in understanding what you have to do in your church and circuit.

We are required to complete an annual data protection check list to demonstrate our compliance. The next deadline for this will be 31st May 2024 by which time all check lists for churches and circuits must be returned to the District Data Champion.

The Methodist Church Privacy Notice can be found here.

The District Data Protection Champion is Alison Godfrey, District Officer.
