Drawing From Closing Service 6

The closing service of the Our Story Our Song Exhibition at Louth Methodist Church on 6th September 2026 was a joyful time of sharing of testimony and creativity.

Many of the creative people who had contributed to the exhibition were present along with people from the 7 churches which had hosted the exhibition between April and September.

The original idea belonged to Chair of District, Rev Angy Long, who had thought it too good an opportunity to miss when the theme of the Presidential year 2025/2026 was "Our Story, Our Song".  She had already seen lots of amazing art and craft in churches across the District that she had visited and felt people would rise to the challenge.  30+ people did rise to the challenge producing paintings, poetry, dance, sign language, textiles and glass work.   In addition there were church contributions from Gosberton, Lea and Nettleham who produced banners depicting their collective life as churches.

During the service Jackie spoke of how stitching is a prayerful activity for her.  John spoke of taking up cross stitch in later life having been inspired by his late wife,  Kathleen described how she uses dance to express her faith and Michael read out an inspired poem he had written.   We watched with joy as Ruskington's congregation added sign language to the song "Blessed Assurance".

During the service Sarah drew the picture that you can see here.  She has captured the essence of the exhibition and the service in a beautiful way.
