Update from Oikos, Brigg

The inspirational ecumenical Oikos project in Brigg is constantly changing and adapting to meet the needs of the community. Their new leaflet, which you can download here, gives an overview of all that Oikos is doing and describes recent developments in the shop and the Pantry.

The main changes being communicated are:-

  • The shop/drop-in where there is now a small café area by the new coffee machine, (courtesy in part from UK Shared Prosperity funding).
  • Expansion of the range of eco refill products
  • The school uniform exchange which is to be made a permanent feature
  • The Community Pantry – there is high demand for this with between 110 and 130 families making use on Pantry day. This is in addition to the Food Bank, which remains the priority and which operates through the referral system. Steps have been taken to make the Pantry sustainable by standardising the amount that can be taken, changes to purchasing and a suggested increase in donation (though no-one will be turned away). Those at the Pantry are being invited to take one free refill from the range of eco-products on offer, which will include shampoo and conditioner sometime very soon!
