What a weekend! Hot humid conditions but that did not deter from the joy, warmth and exquisite sounds from the youth choir who were visiting Barton Trinity Methodist Church and Epworth Wesley Methodist Church over the weekend of 27th and 28th June 2026.
The young people were all part of the First United Methodist Church of Birmingham Youth Choir from Michigan, USA on tour in England.
Maurizio, tour manager, kept me updated on arrival times and was so enthusiastic about the churches and towns visited. There were lots of hugs from him and support adults on arrival/ departure and any times in between, sounds from the choir that sent tingles up your spine and made the tears flow.
The concert in Barton was attended by 50+ people which pleased both us and the choir. The welcome and support from volunteers in the Joseph Wright hall was special. The sound!!
Epworth / Val delivered a lively morning service that had the congregation and choir swaying and enthusiastically joining in with the hymns. Again attended by a fair few visitors who had seen fliers about the choir’s visit. The catering team there produced a lovely array of sandwiches and cakes, appreciated by the choir and others who stayed to eat. Again lots of thanks and appreciation for hospitality that we know we do well.
It was with heavy heart from me but resounding thanks and farewells from the whole bus when they departed from Epworth and the County towards York and the rest of their tour.
Already talk of next tour in four years time, hearing that there are young adults in Michigan eagerly awaiting their turn to visit England.
Blessings and thanks to all
Pam
