Lincolnshire District autumn day 2023
A good number of ladies enjoyed the autumn District day held in October at Nettleham chapel near Lincoln. Jude Simms led us in a creative day meaning everyone went home having made a prayer journal from just one sheet of paper and with many of us having been inspired to be creative on our own, or with others as we explored scripture together.
Two examples of creative pieces written during the afternoon at Nettleham after listening to a retelling of the story of Jesus healing Jairus' daughter & the woman with bleeding.
The dust was swirling in the sky
As people walked slowly by.
Clothes were dull and damp from sweat
Who, was this man we hoped to meet?
Children were carried or dragged along
Gone were the time for laughs and song.
Yet up ahead the sounds came higher
Was there something to inspire?
Salt in the air, was full of fish
Stomachs groaned for meals they'd missed.
The relaxing sound of waves on shore
Hands and feet no longer sore.
And there He was by the sea wall
An image of wonder, for us all.

Creative God, made in your image we can do anything. You take our frailties and imperfections as much as you take our willingness and enthusiasm, and together we can do something beautiful – sharing the love of God with friend and stranger. Amen.
