The ultimate aim of the Local Church Pastor scheme, which was relaunched in 2021, is "a pastor in every church". This is a pioneer project to transform the life of our mainly rural circuits and churches tapping into the rich seam of a volunteers' life and faith experience.

The pastors, who are responsible to the circuit leadership team and appointed by them, are interviewed, trained and commissioned through the District. They are connected to one church where they serve in a voluntary capacity for up to 8 hours per week.

Since its launch in 2014, eighteen churches have been helped and resourced. Local Church Pastors serve for a maximum of six years and we are now ready to train a new cohort of volunteers in the coming months.
