In many respects the Methodist Church at Lea near Gainsborough is like any other however not every congregation uses a former lodge house to a now demolished stately home as their premises!
In 2017, with support from Lincolnshire District, the congregation embarked upon an ambitious project to completely renovate the premises. By 2020 funding was in place and the building work started, as did lockdown!
The resulting renovated building has a modern, light and calm feeling and is now available for groups to use for spirituality, creativity or art or simply as a quiet space for wellbeing in a busy world. Sunday worship continues. Alongside the transformation of the building, the outside spaces have also been transformed to provide a beautiful quiet garden with benches and a wildlife area open all the time for visitors to use.
Lincolnshire District worked alongside the church to appoint the architect, provide a District Advance Fund grant and generally offer assistance and vision. It is hoped to hold District led retreats at the Little Retreat at Lea in the coming months.
